We partner with a number of companies in the Toronto region, including Global EMC who we use for our compliance testing. Here’s a picture of their very cool Highly Accelerated Lifecycle Testing (HALT) machine; includes full environmental control down to -40 deg C and a random vibration test bed. Cool.

FTD Highrise recently unveiled “SAM” – their flag-ship robotic vehicle. SAM was designed, programmed, and built by Cortex Design Inc.  and is used for automated building inspection; notably, for going up and seeing what the what is going on with all those glass panels falling off of condo buildings!

We have purchased a 3D printer to perform rapid prototyping;  we can now offer extremely quick turn-arounds on custom parts as well as increase the speed at which we can evaluate our design work. It allows us to iterate faster than ever before!

The models are built in an ABS-like material, and offer best-in-class part resolution and accuracy. The part strength and accuracy far exceeds both SLA and FDM printers. Surface finish even on gently curving surfaces is excellent, and we can build walls as thin as 0.2MM that rivals the strength of an injection-molded part.

If you have any questions or would like a quote on building some of your own parts, please send your enquiry in to info@cortex-design.com. We are offering extremely competitive rates on builds. Provide us your CAD models by 4:30p and provided it fits on our queue, we can deliver you built parts for next day.
